HOW DOES A KAOKO CRUISE CONTROL & THROTTLE STABILIZER WORK?
A Kaoko cruise control & throttle stabilizer is a mechanical motorcycle cruise control that when engaged, simply applies friction to the motorcycle throttle sleeve that is located underneath the rubber grip.
This allows you to dynamically set the throttle at any position!
HOW DOES THIS HELP ME?
- Significantly reduces wrist fatigue
- Great alternative to electronic cruise control
- Reduces unwanted throttle input when partially engaged
To Engage:
Whilst rolling on the throttle, the friction nut can be gripped between your small finger and palm of your hand. This action tightens the nut and provides sufficient friction to set throttle to the desired opening. (The friction is such that the rider may still open and close the throttle. It simply has a slight rotational resistance to it.)
To Disengage:
Whilst rolling off the throttle, grip the friction nut between your small finger and palm of your hand. The throttle should open and snap closed freely when correctly disengaged.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes, since the Kaoko unit only uses friction to keep your throttle open, it cannot fully lock your throttle and can be overridden in an instant and is 100% safe in the hands of a responsible rider.
When engaged, the Kaoko simply applies friction to the motorcycle throttle sleeve that is located underneath the rubber grip. This allows you to set the throttle at any position and even allows you to adjust the set position on the fly as you wish without needing to re-engage the unit every time.
Yes! Since the Kaoko is purely a mechanical device, it does not interfere with your electronic cruise control and can be used in conjunction with electronic cruise control. This makes the Kaoko particularly useful when cruising at lower speeds where electronic cruise control cannot be engaged.
Depending on the motorcycle, installation typically takes 5 – 10 minutes.
Yes, we have units specifically designed for use with aftermarket hand guards or heated grips (or a combination of both!)
